Bonding

    Bonding

Chipped, cracked and fractured teeth can ruin your smile, but at Albee Dental Care, we offer several restorative solutions including tooth bonding. Bonding is a great option in order to restore or repair fractured, cracked, or discolored teeth in a most satisfying and cost effective manner.

Bonding involves applying and customizing a layer of composite resin to the tooth. The resin is carefully matched to the color of the remaining tooth structure and creates a most natural appearance.

The process takes only one visit. The tooth is first prepared, by microscopically etching the surface in order to make it a little rougher so that the bonding material will adhere to it. A bonding liquid it then brushed over the tooth. Next, the resin is applied and molded to perfectly repair the defect. A special light directed at the tooth hardens the resin. The procedure is then completed by removing the excess resin and polishing the new restoration to a smooth finish. The bonded tooth appears completely natural and  blends in perfectly with the rest of your smile.

There are several benefits to using tooth bonding to repair fractured or chipped teeth including:
  • Cost: Bonding is often one of the least expensive cosmetic procedures.
  • Speed: In most instances, bonding is completed in one visit and usually takes about an hour for each tooth.
  • No Anesthesia: Tooth bonding can usually be done without the use of anesthesia unless a cavity also needs to be filled.
  • Ease: Bonding is often one of the easiest cosmetic procedures to repair damaged teeth.

At Albee Dental Care, we take pride in providing our patients with exceptional dentistry in a state of the art facility. For more information on bonding or any other procedure, please call our office at 718-658-0123.
